Wisconsin Labor Leaders: Not About Wages or Benefits, It’s All About the Unions
February 18th 2011 · 0 Comments
You’ve probably heard about Scott Walker’s “evil” cuts to public-sector workers, the fact that his budget is going to cost them more for their benefits and going to cause them to contribute more toward their retirement and, in essence, bring them into parity with the private sector.
In fact, you may have even been led to believe that the tens of thousands marchers and the union members who called in sick so they could protest at the statehouse are doing so because they’re upset with having more money taken out of their check. If you’ve been led to believe the Madison mobs are engaging in their “popular uprising” over money, you’ve been wronged.
This has nothing to do with pay and benefits—it is all about the unions. Period.
But don’t take it from me. This teachers’ union leader flat out states the unions are willing to negotiate concessions (or give backs), as long as Walker doesn’t touch the unions (aka their income stream).
After seven minutes of diatribe, I did not hear one mention of “it’s for the kids….’ Did you?
